AWeber Email Marketing Tips
PayPal: Turn Customers into Subscribers
![]()
Last week, we announced an exciting new enhancement to the AWeber WordPress plugin: you can now add people who leave comments on your posts to your mailing list.
Today, we’re adding another free integration to all AWeber accounts.
You can now add your PayPal customers directly to the mailing list of your choice.
How Does It Work?
The new PayPal app cleanly and efficiently connects your AWeber and PayPal accounts, enabling PayPal to give your AWeber account a heads-up when someone buys from you.
At this point, your customer will be added to a list of your choice, and you can even use automation rules to automatically remove them from your prospect list, letting you keep your email content relevant.
Extra AWesome: Different Lists For Each Product
What’s more, you can add people who buy different products to different lists.
This means you can send:
- A series of emails showing customers how to use and get the most value out of the product.
- Upsells for products related to the one they purchased.
- For digital product buyers, a link to download their purchase.
- A paid subscription newsletter using PayPal’s subscription payments.
There’s no limit to the number of lists you can create with AWeber, so this app is as powerful as you need it to be.
How to Start Using This App Today
Head over to the My Apps page of your AWeber account now to start adding your customers through our new PayPal app.
It’s free to use and easy to set up, and you can always consult our knowledge base for detailed instructions, or contact us directly if you have any questions.

This literally made the decision for me between MailChimp and AWeber. I’ll be using AWeber for my next big project.

This is fantastic. Just the feature i’ve been waiting for. Now i don’t have to go through the tedious effort of having to create seperate sign up pages to request people add themselves to my buyer list.

This Paypal plugin… very nice of you.
But when, you Aweber, will use Paypal for your own customers?
Paypal is a very popular way of paying a membership, but not for an aWeber membership.
Best regards

Awesome addition to an already fantastic arsenal of tools and apps, well done guys.
One question, how on EARTH does one do this for ebay items?
I’ve tried before and failed miserably, receiving some sort of garbled nonsense when someone buys from my ebay store?Suggestions please
Paul.

I was just comparing Aweber and Mailchimp while trying to decide which one to use for my newest project. I already truly loved the automation rules, but this PayPal feature literally just made the decision so easy for me! (I’m choosing Aweber!) It also removed many of the obstacles I was running into with keeping things simple for both my customers and myself. Keep up the great work! Thank you!

Everyone – Thanks for the feedback! We were excited to announce this feature, and it’s great to hear that people are using it.
Paul – I’m not personally familiar with how eBay handles notifications of sale, but seeing an integration with them via AWeber’s API would be great! If you or any developers you have contact with are interested in developing an eBay app, you may want to check out (or ask them to check out) https://labs.aweber.com/
Gilles – At this time, we do not directly accept payments by PayPal or other similar systems for AWeber accounts. This is due to terms of service limitations at those services. PayPal did at one time offer virtual credit cards, but I understand they canceled that service – you may want to ask their support for more information about that.
