How To Integrate Blogger and AWeber

Blogging is an increasingly popular way of communicating with your current and potential customers and helps establish you as an authority in your field. It also helps you add search engine-friendly content to your site, increasing your online visibility.

By integrating your AWeber account with popular blogging platform Blogger, you can:

Integrating AWeber with Blogger – Step By Step

(This article uses screenshots from the new Blogger Beta. If you are using the previous version of Blogger, they might not match what you see exactly. Please refer to Blogger for assistance if you have difficulty finding any of their pages referenced here.)

Download a PDF of this article or follow the steps below.

A. Get your Blogger RSS Feed address (URL)

B. Create Feed Broadcast

(Hint: To create a new list for your blog, use the “Create & Manage Lists” link in the upper right-hand corner of the control panel)

Just like regular broadcasts, Feed Broadcast messages are reviewed and sent at the “Messages” > “Broadcast Edit” page of the AWeber control panel, so if you leave this box unchecked, you will need to go to that page to send your Feed Broadcasts after they are created.

I have chosen the “Clean – Construct” template for our example, but you can use any of the templates that we offer!

Please do not remove or modify any of the variables, such as:

{!rss_channel_title}
{!rss_channel_description}
{!rss_itemblock}
{!rss_item_title}

unless you are familiar with RSS and what those variables represent.

C. Create Web Form

You now need to create a signup form that you can place on your blog.

D. Add Web Form to Blogger

So that people can sign up to get your blog updates, let’s now put the signup form on your Blogger blog.

The template for your blog appears in a large text area

Blogger Template HTML

Typically this is in the sidebar, so you’ll want to scroll until you find the line and paste somewhere after that.

The location of the form on your page will depend on where you paste that HTML – feel free to experiment and move it around! You can use the “Preview” button at the bottom of the page to see if you like where you have placed the form.

Now, your blog visitors can sign up to receive your posts via email!

    I use WordPress blogging platform on my website server. Would this procedure work pretty much the same with WordPress as it does for Blogger? (with differences as to how to edit the files and include the AWeber code into the necessary php file?)

    There is a pretty simple way to edit WordPress templates.

    Select Presentation then theme editor. Select the part of the theme you wish to edit (sidebar for example) and then add in your code in the appropriate place.

    QUick question: Is there a way of doing this for several lists. That is, I would like several list subscribers to see the same blog. Can several lists be fed by the same blog?

    I am happy if a sunscriber subscribes to the one list, of course.

    Phil,

    Yes, you can do that. To do so, set up Feed Broadcaster (as per parts A and B above) in each list that you wanted those messages to be sent to.

    Whenever new items are posted to your blog, Feed Broadcaster will create and send your broadcast to each of those lists.

    Jeff,

    You would need to edit your WordPress template and add the popover form JavaScript into the appropriate location within it.

    As I’m not familiar with editing WordPress blogs, I can’t tell you where exactly that would be. You may want to refer to WordPress’ help documents for details/ideas:

    If you have the new Blogger.com format (where you log into your Google account) you can follow these steps to add adsense:

    Go to dashboard
    Choose – layout
    Choose – add a page element
    Choose – adsense
    Choose – adsense format

    If you have the old blogger format:
    Choose – template
    Choose – adsense
    Choose – format

    Yes, Thank you! This is nice to give my blog visitors a chance to find our instantly when I place new information on my audio blog where all my trainings are archived.

    I discovered that you can not do this with a password protected blog. When you set permissions to only certian people, RSS feed from the blog is not possible. I have Members only Video Blog that helps people with blogging with blogger, as well as Aweber and custom lead capture pages, specialized knowledge to help them use the tools they need to earn as they build targeted lists.

    These videos help teach this specialized knowledge better. Sadly I can not offer them a subscription to the video blog RSS feed.

    I thought perhaps I should place a password protected login page in front of the video blog… basically using the pare link instead to the private blog url.

    How ever the problem with that is… is a member goes inactive, they will still have permission to the Members Only Video blog. I would have to monitor that and remove them by hand,which is not a good idea it your aim is to automate your business.

    So what I will do is announce on the publicly available audio blog (archived trainings) when ever there is a new video blog post.

    Then only Elite members with permission to the video blog can access it from the link on the Audio blog.

    What I’m having a bit of a problem with on this, is that the posts sent via email have zero description. Only the title, a date, and the length. Isn’t there a way to send at least part of the post to the subscriber? I can’t find any information on this, and I really don’t want to move the blog away from Blogger at this point.

    Dear Ron,
    I saw your message, and I have had adsense for some time now since you told me,thank you very much.AAh I have not made any big money from it though, unfortunately.
    Now just recently I have been getting links to these posts and the originals from Aweber which have been very handy and at about the right time( because I was extremely tense when I first joined).One of these posts was from an early part of this thread, if that word is used correctly, and I used the information to allow people to get an RSS feed from my blog.One thing to mention though, is that awber has been upgraded, and the PDF is no longer valid.I was pulling my hair out a bit, but I got there in the end I think.
    I have not been at all successful in attracting a list.

    This question is a little bit complicated, but I think YES, you can use.

    Yes it is, but you have to know some programing basics and web history!

    Hello,

    For my blog, I am using Quick Blog, a Blog platform from GoDaddy.com.
    I guess, I should not have any problem in integrating my blog with Aweber.com. The procees to follow should be the same as that described in the above article. Or rather, this integration feature only refers to blogger.

    Will you give me some detail on this?

    Hi Juan,

    I’m not familiar with Quick Blog but will look into it.

    For what it’s worth, it looks like Quick Blog costs a few bucks per month, whereas other blog programs like Blogger and WordPress are free. I’m not sure what the unique benefits of Quick Blog are, but you may want to consider looking at Blogger and WordPress as well (we use WordPress on this blog).

    Hi guys
    If you’re interested in seeing live examples of how blogger can work with Aweber then check out my two sites below:
    Both are created in blogger – using some simple modifications I made to the standard available blogger templates.
    I choose to post them to my own domains so that I can keep control of the overall situation.

    I use autoresponders to generate email newsletters after about every six posts. Works very well

    (in this case the whole site is blogger based and blogger creates the home page etc.

    (in this site I create the home page with Dreamweaver and have integrated a blogger blog. This makes adding new pages to the site very quick and also allows me automatic creation of my newsletters)

    Is there a way to publish daily and weekly digests for an RSS feed by email through Aweber ?

    So on daily for example, Aweber grabs each article from the feed that has been published in the last 24 hours, bundles it up in one email and sends it out to the subscriber list at a pre determined time each day. (like what Feedblitz does).

    That’s it, yes – whenever new features come out, this is where they’ll have their coming out party :)

    We don’t share our development timeline due to competitive reasons, but I can say that it’s one of a number of planned enhancements to the Blog Broadcast tool.

    Hi Kevin!

    Is there a way to put up a pop-up/hover window of my opt-in form to my blogger blog? I already have an in-line opt-in form, but I would like to take advantage of having a pop up one. I tried inserting my html code of my form into my templete (html mumbo-gumbo, had no CLUE as to what i was doing!) But my blog would’nt even show correctly in the preview window. Any suggestions?

    Does all that mean that if I put an aweber opt-in form on my blogger blog, I can only send my subscribers the blog content?
    Can’t I use it for regular email marketing? (i.e. creating a sequance of emails for aweber to send to my subscribers)?
    In short: does the opt-in form on Blogger work just like a form on any other web site?

    An opt-in form that you put on a Blogger blog will work just like any other form you create in AWeber.

    That said, if you intend to send emails that include content other than your blog posts, take care to disclose this to subscribers at the point of sign up. You want to make sure that people want to receive precisely what you’re going to be sending them.
