BACA NewsletterDear all, It has been sometime since we last wrote a newsletter and we apologise for this, but we have been busy and have continued our work protecting vulnerable Christians in South Asia. Last week Aweber our email distribution company were having problems with their system so you will have accidently been sent
press releases instead of our newsletter and we apologise for the frequency of emails. We have a lot to catch you all up with and so I will quickly go straight to the regular updates on our work. I will however at this point say that our work is increasing at an alarming rate, especially with news of what is happening in Manipur India where tensions between Hindus and Christians has led to severe persecution (click here). We hope to have a full report with you by end of next week. "...All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved." Mark
13:13 Watching the violence unfold in Manipur reminds us of the persecution that we are expected to face. Over 60,000 people have been displaced in Manipur, near 200 killed and women have been raped and tortured as this horrid act is being used as a weapon to intimidate Christian
communities. We ask you to pray for this situation and if you can please help with our appeal by donating (here) with reference 'Aid for
Manipur' Our headline story this week refers to a 7 year old child who was kidnapped and raped by a local Muslim man, who then left her in the streets to find her way home, bleeding and distressed. You can read more about this (here) Pakistan continues to be a nations where Christians suffer horrendous persecution. In this newsletter we reveal distressing accounts of a young man accused of blasphemy now facing a
potential death sentence (click here), an enslaved Christian family beaten and forced back to slave
quarters on a brick kin they escaped (click here), an 8 month pregnant Christian woman beaten by
employers after falsely being accused of theft (click here), death
threats being given to Christians in Pakistan after a Koran was burnt in Sweden (click here)
and much more. It's gruesome reading but that is exactly why we should be informed, so that we can pray for these families and help where we can. We continue our work feeding homeless people in Redbridge, but the current economy has grown the number of people we support to almost COVID-19 levels (click here). Pastor Vasilev has prepared a video that details the
dire situation in Ukraine, where the impact of the burst Kakhovka Dam has exacerbated the already debilitating situation for people there (click here). Please watch this video that he put a lot of effort into preparing: Our aid to the people of Ukraine will continue for as long as the war lasts, we hope more of you will join our commitment to them. I am now living in Aberdeen and have less time to dedicate to the woek of British Asian Christian Association. I hope there are others who might want to volunteer time with writing articles and our newsletter. If your interested please email
us on [email protected] Praying for you all to have a wonderful blessed summer. Hannah
Chowdhry At the end of this email we share all the latest accounts that were not listed on our previous emails. Our level of donations has reduced over the last few months, mainly because we have slowed the frequency of our newsletter and because the harsh economy is impacting on how much people can afford to give. This is unfortunately coinciding with an increase in demand for our aid programmes. We hope more of you might be willing to give us a regular donation so that we
can meet this demand and plan ahead. If you are a regular reader and want to support our work, you can find a range of options for giving donations (here). If you are already giving donations and reside in the UK you may want to switch from Paypal or Stripe payments and pay directly into the charity bank account as
we will receive more of your donation. Our bank details are in the same link above. We upload videos for all our stories on YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and you can join any of our groups for free. But in most cases it is easier to read our news in real-time blog via our 'Current News' page in the header of our website. For those of you who prefer to wait for our newsletter, we have listed all our recent news in date order below. This should cover all the accounts that were not listed on our previous newsletter. If any of the links below do not work you can find all
our international news articles by clicking the box below which leads to our website and clicking 'Current News' then 'BACA News'. Click 'Current News' then Community Projects for all our UK projects.

The Cross on a Toilet Seat:
Blasphemy, Intolerance, and Religious Tensions in Pakistan
An incident of hate-messaging has triggered outrage and dismay amongst Christians in Pakistan. The cause of this was a video that recently
went viral on social media depicting a toilet seat adorned with a Swedish Flag that contains the Cross. The provocative display was orchestrated in Lahore by protesters affiliated with Tehrik-e-Labaik Pakistan, a religious political party, as a means of expressing their anger over the alleged burning of
the Quran in Sweden during Eid-ul-Adha last month. They also published a message of death to Christians in Pakistan if any further incidents occur in Sweden. This attack on the most recognised symbol of Christianity has not only deeply offended the Christian community in Pakistan, but has also brought to the forefront the ongoing struggles faced by religious minorities in the country.

Persecution of Ahmadiyya Community: A
Challenging Dilemma for Religious Freedom in Pakistan
In a shocking and alarming violation of basic human rights and religious freedom, the Lahore and Gojra Bar Association in Pakistan has issued instructions to local police forces to prevent Ahmadi Muslims from participating in the religious practice of Qurbani during Eid-ul-Adha. This discriminatory edict denies the Ahmadiyya community the right to perform ritual animal sacrifice and gather for prayers on this significant occasion for the Islamic world. The enforcement of such measures by a state institution further exposes the deeply entrenched discrimination faced by religious minorities in the country.

Burst Ukrainian dam unleashes heavy
environmental damage; food shortages felt by millions of citizens.
On June 6th a massive explosion destroved the Kakhovka Dam in Ukraine
unleashing a flood that has devastated thousands of lives (click here). The dam was under the control of the Russian military, which had seized it in the early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The consequences of the flood have been grave and far-reaching. People have lost their livelihoods, many are homeless and huge environmental damage poses a threat to
human and animals alike. Agricultural damage has left people hungry and many are now reliant on aid. BACA is supporting the work of Pastor Vasilev in Ukraine since the outset of the Russian attack and we call for your support so that we
can continue this work.
