Get More Subscribers With These 3 Popup Form Split Tests
by Justin Premick on October 9th, 2008Do you use popup forms to collect subscribers faster and kick-start your email marketing campaign?
While they’re not always the right solution for all sites, some businesses have found they can increase opt-in rates significantly by adding popup forms.
Of course, getting the best results from your popup (just like any other aspect of your campaign) requires testing.

A Well-Done “Change of Address” Email
by Justin Premick on October 3rd, 2008There ought to be some kind of warning label: Changing your “From” address can be hazardous to your email deliverability.
Do it, and a few things can happen:
- All those people who added you to their address books (you have been asking them to do that when they sign up, right?) suddenly don’t have you in their address books anymore.
- People who had been viewing images in your (HTML) emails suddenly don’t because they haven’t yet permitted images to display for emails from your new address.
But if you have to do it (and sometimes you do), then you should at least do it well.

by Justin Premick on October 2nd, 2008In previous articles on restaurant marketing, we’ve floated a number of content ideas for your emails, like sending birthday emails and giving a behind-the-scenes look at your chef and kitchen.
The thing is, these ideas (and others that we’ll continue to publish here) don’t do much good if you don’t have any potential diners to send to!
Just as with any other business, a restaurant’s email marketing campaign has to start by getting subscribers.
So where/how can restaurant owners build their lists?

Effective Welcome Email Example: SlideShare
by Justin Premick on September 23rd, 2008Have you taken a look at your welcome email lately? Does it…
- Thank people for joining?
- Point them to helpful resources, such as an article, FAQ or product/service tour?
- Tell them how to connect/get in touch with you, and encourage them to do so?
- Anything at all? (Do you have a welcome email?)
I was reminded of the importance of a good welcome email last week after signing up with SlideShare to post the slides of my Podcasting and Email Newsletters presentation.
Shortly after signing up and confirming my registration, I received an email welcoming me to SlideShare. And I was impressed.
Their welcome email does a lot of great things that we can all learn from and apply to our email marketing campaigns.

Podcasting and Email Newsletters: Presentation at PodCamp Philly
by Justin Premick on September 16th, 2008Last weekend, Tracey (our Director of Customer Solutions) and I attended and presented at PodCamp Philly.
While it’s not an email marketing event per se, it gives us an opportunity to learn about and discuss complementary media and marketing technologies and tools. (Plus it gives us a chance to get out from behind our computers and talk to local business owners and publishers in person.)
Just like last year, it was a great event with a lot of quality discussions on web publishing and building communities.
To give you an idea of what went on at the event, below are some of my notes from the event, as well as my presentation slides.

What Email Marketing Blogs Do We Read?
by Justin Premick on September 8th, 2008If you’ve ever sat in on one of our webinars, you know that we talk about referring your subscribers to content written by other experts – for example, by sharing and reacting to articles and blog posts written by others in your industry.
It’s a great way to create additional value for subscribers (by sharing great content that they might not have found on their own) and to show them that you’re at the leading edge of your industry – and know who else, is too.
Recently email marketing blogger (and Twitter buddy) Anna Billstrom tagged this blog in a post on what other email blogs she reads.
Today, I’d like to spread a little link love, and share some other email blogs that not only I, but others here at AWeber, follow to keep at the front of the email industry.
Check them out!
