How Are Messages Checked For Broken Links?
We all make mistakes. Fortunately, if you don't catch the typo in your URL addresses you enter for your links, an automatic link checker will.
How are Links Automatically Checked?
Let's say you've typed in an invalid URL address in your text message...
Or maybe you're editing your HTML message, adding hyperlinks...
... and there's a typo in the address you put in the "URL" box.
When you've completed the edits to your message and you scroll to the bottom of the page to save your message, we'll warn you about links that:
- return a 404 message (are invalid)
- fail to successfully load in 20 seconds
This will provide you with an opportunity to check your URLs and test your pages to make sure they're working alright, make the appropriate changes, then save your message.
How Do I Bypass This Warning?
If you know why the address is invalid - say, you're about to create the page on your website after creating the message - you can click on the "Ignore invalid links" checkbox to bypass the warning.
Until you correct the links or check this box, you will be prevented from saving the message to help you to prevent accidents (face it: they happen!).
