My Click Tracking Link Opens OK in Firefox, But Not in Internet Explorer. Why?
It is rare, but possible, that you may find that a tracking link in your message successfully redirects to your page when you click on it in Firefox (or another non-Microsoft browser) but does not in Internet Explorer (IE).
This issue does not indicate a problem with AWeber's Click Tracking, but rather a combination of problems with the page that you are trying to send people to and with the IE browser.
Why This Can Happen
The problem has to do with the way IE loads pages that are being redirected to (which is the way Click Tracking works - we redirect from a tracking link on AWeber to the page you specify in your message).
Whenever you go to a web page, your browser looks at each piece of content on there and attempts to validate where all of that content comes from.
If you're using IE, and there's anything on a web page (for example, images or JavaScript files) whose origin IE can't validate, it throws an error that keeps the page from displaying at all. You would see a blank page.
What You Can Do
If the page you're trying to send subscribers to is your own, you need to check the various elements on it:
- Images
- JavaScript files
- Any other content from another site that you're trying to display on that page
If you're unable to find out what content on the page is causing that IE error, you'll want to turn off Click Tracking for that message so that future subscribers can get to the page OK when using IE.
If you do not own the site that you're trying to send people to, turn off Click Tracking so that your subscribers who use IE can still get to that page.
That Explanation Doesn't Make a Lot of Sense...
Trust me, that's the simplified version. If you want to see a more technical explanation, you can see it here.
