Here’s a Grade-A example of why permission matters, and why only you can give permission to someone to email you.

I was going through Google Reader this morning and found my subscriptions littered with posts blasting Vonage for a Tell-a-Friend system that they had set up.

Their mistake and the fallout highlight the perils of running campaigns that aren’t 100% permission-based.

Results of a study conducted by AWeber identified that a confirmed opt-in AOL subscriber is significantly less likely to unsubscribe in the first 60 days of publication than a single opt-in subscriber.
