How Do Teens Communicate? Email Remains The Leading Tool For America’s Youth
National survey and infographic developed by email marketing service AWeber presents key data for marketers targeting American teens

Huntingdon Valley, Pa., July 17, 2012 — When it comes to the communication preferences of teens, 93% prefer email and mobile phones, followed closely by Facebook and other social media sites, according to a national survey of 984 high school and college students by the email marketing service AWeber.

Facilitated as part of AWeber’s 2012 Email Marketing Scholarship, participants submitted essays and completed a survey about their personal communication tools and habits. The survey’s findings provide valuable data for marketers targeting youth, and offer insight into how the average American teen interacts with digital tools.

How Do Teens Communicate?
Key takeaways from AWeber’s national survey include:

“With younger generations entering the workforce and obtaining disposable income, marketers must take note of their communication patterns,” explained Justin Premick, AWeber’s Director of Education Marketing. “To sell to them, it’s vitally important to speak their language.”

“This generation lives in a world of evolving technology, and they expect that evolution to continue,” continued Rebekah Henson, Education Marketing Associate at AWeber. “To captivate teens with your marketing message, keep your ideas fresh and creative. This is the perfect demographic to take risks with your marketing tactics.”
