Global Fields Allow Further Personalization in Lists.
Posted by Tom Kulzer (AWeber CEO)Custom “global fields” allow a customer to set a group of personalization variables that when used throughout messages in a
list they will always print the value that is entered.
Up to 25 custom global fields can be created by a customer as well as 2 specialized custom fields already created.
A “signature file” and a “contact address” global fields have been pre created for customers. A signature file is typically a
closing (footer) of an email like:
Sincerely,
John Doe
ABC Example Inc.
When entered into the signature field this string will automatically be added to the bottom of all outgoing text follow
up messages and broadcasts.
To help customers comply with the new US Federal CAN-SPAM act that went into law on Jan 1, 2004 a global field called “contact
address” has been added. A valid postal mail contact address must be entered in the “Contact Address” field regardless of a
customers location in the world. This field will be automatically placed at the bottom of all outgoing messages at
the bottom below a signature field if they have entered one. This is a required field.
Example: a customer might want to create a global field to store their companies contact phone number. They would call that global field, “phone number”. When creating messages they would place the text, “{!global phone number}” in their message wherever they wanted their phone number to appear. When their messages are sent their phone number would automatically in each spot where the “{!global phone number}” field appears. This allows for a company to easily update their contact support phone number in all their messages within that list within seconds.
To access these new features customers may login and click on “List Settings” -> “Global Fields” to set up.
