We’re Adding More Webinars

Justin Premick - February 26th, 2007

A lot of you joined us for last week’s How to Get Started webinar.

I’m happy to say that it went every bit as well as I anticipated, due in no small part to you bringing your questions about setting up and using AWeber.

Although we had a good bit of “how do you do this” in our presentation, a lot of what we talked about dealt with questions like:

As a result, I think that a lot of you walked away more confident in your ability to implement effective email marketing campaigns. Which means that we need to do more of these.

Support Hours Today - Feb. 22, 2007

Justin Premick - February 22nd, 2007

Between our Support, Education and Development Teams, we have a lot of people who love working together, but whose schedules don’t always permit us to get together outside of the office.

So, each year, everyone on the AWeber team (and their families) heads out for dinner and a party. So we don’t interfere with anyone’s winter holiday plans, we throw the party a month or two into the New Year.

Our annual post-holiday party, which for the second straight year involves Tom running Go-Kart laps around everyone :), takes place this evening.

As a result, our Support Team will be unavailable after 3:30PM today.

We’ll be back in tomorrow morning at 7AM Eastern Time. As always, please feel free to submit a support ticket or call and leave us a voice message and we’ll get back to you then.

On behalf of everyone here at AWeber, I’d like to say Thanks for your understanding.

Make Your Subjects Stand Out

Marc Kline - February 20th, 2007

Consider what your subscribers see when they open their inboxes: a whole lot of junk. Most would be inclined to call this a whole lot of something else. But either way, it’s not something you want your messages to blend in with.

Fortunately, when subscribers do see your message, there are things you can do to entice them to open it. However, there are also things that can make them delete it, or click the dreaded ‘SPAM’ button.

Based on experience and research, you can follow these Dos and Don’ts as you consider your subjects:

Case Study: Marketing an Entertainment Newsletter

Justin Premick - February 15th, 2007

Customers often ask us for examples of how people are using AWeber in different industries, and what they can do to effectively run an opt-in email campaign.

So, last month we solicited candidates to help us show how they’ve implemented email campaigns with their businesses.

Our 2007 case study series starts in the music industry, with John Waterman and the Bandit A&R Newsletter.

A Love-Hate Relationship with Email

Justin Premick - February 13th, 2007

A recent survey by Jupiter Research looked at how people act and feel about opt-in email marketing.

One of their findings? A lot of people don’t trust email publishers — more than two in five think signing up to a list will result in more spam being sent to them. Yikes.

But there’s good news too.

Collect Subscribers Offline: Do’s & Don’ts

Justin Premick - February 8th, 2007

Using a website opt-in form to collect subscribers is a great, automated way to build your list.

Many publishers want to collect subscribers offline too. Done right, this can be a valuable asset in your email marketing arsenal.

However, not every email address that comes your way offline belongs to someone who wants to be on your list.

How do you tell which ones you should add to your list — and which ones you shouldn’t?

Missing an Email? Don’t Stress — Address!

Justin Premick - February 6th, 2007

One of the most frustrating things that can happen to a publisher is to be contacted by a subscriber who says:

“I saw your latest newsletter on your website. It’s been up there for a week now. I’m a loyal reader and didn’t get a copy of it. Why the #@&!*%$ not?”

OK, maybe the conversation doesn’t go quite like that. But trying to explain to someone that you sent an email, when they’re not seeing it, has the potential to be just as tense.

If you let it.

What Is A Subscriber Worth?

Justin Premick - February 1st, 2007

I’ve come across a lot of blog and forum posts that ask how to determine the value of a subscriber.

Good question. After all, if you don’t know what your subscribers are worth, then you can’t decide how much time, effort and money you’re willing to dedicate to building your list.
