Hi

I strongly believe that one of the biggest roadblocks that any
comedian, speaker or entertainer can face is stage fright and an
overwhelming lack of confidence when they perform.

I know this from first hand experience. My own issues with this
common condition were severely holding me back until I got rid of
them for good.

So, let's find out where YOU are at when it comes to having maximum
stage comfort.

I'm going to paint a mental picture for you. As you follow along, I
want you to pay close attention your own initial emotional reaction
as you visualize this scenario in your own mind:

As you stand on a wide stage holding a microphone, you are now
looking out at 500 people sitting in the audience, waiting in
anticipation for you to speak your first words. Your family and
closest friends are in the audience and the spotlight is now on
you.

The chances are great that you had one of two primary reactions as
you visualized the scenario I have just presented:

The "Winner" Reaction: When you visualized yourself in this
scenario, what sort of initial emotional response did you really
have? Was it one of excitement, gleeful anticipation, warmth and
comfort? Did you embrace this scenario with a sense of confidence,
success and ultimate accomplishment?

The "Loser" Reaction: Was your initial internal emotional response
to this scenario more along the lines of fear, nervousness, doubt,
uncertainty and possibly shear horror? Did it cause you to become
highly uncomfortable, repulsed, release feelings of possible
failure and make you not want to think about this scenario at all?

If you experienced no reaction -- you need to stop. You simply
glossed over the passage I asked you to visualize and didn't
actually project yourself into that scenario with true
visualization, which means...

You were just reading words. That won't help you if you are serious
about getting rid of a "loser" reaction to standing in front of an
audience with maximum comfort and confidence.

I need you to understand that I started my own stand-up comedy
career with a severe "loser" reaction when standing in front of
audiences, in spite of my intense drive and desire to become a
professional comedian.

And I also knew that unless I could change my "loser" reaction into
a "winner" reaction when it came to performing for audiences, I
would never be able to entertain audiences at a high level.

I have an article on my blog that attempts to explain some of the
mental aspects associated with stage fright at:

Stage Comfort or Stage Fright?

That's it for this edition. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
